Shandâli Firemane Empty Shandâli Firemane

Post  Shandâli Mon May 03, 2010 7:02 pm

Name: Shandâli Firemane, she has no knowledge of what Tribe she was born into.

RP status: I generally RP whenever I get the chance, though most of my past experience with the game is based around Raiding.

Character Description

Physical Appearance: The most noticeable feature regarding Shandâli is her physical size, while not being much taller than the average female Troll she is by far more bulky then most. The majority her development stemming from the continual magical and chemical enhancement towards extreme physical prowess which was forced upon her during her initial years of combat training. (Her trainer at the time saw her only as a weapon to be forged, used for his intended purpose, and then discarded discreetly with no care for what his manipulations to her natural state would have on her future.) The result of those years and being in near continual combat for most of her life to date has given her a bulk that would be more natural to a well muscled male Orc then even a normal warrior type female Troll.

Beyond this, when outside of her plate armor, she is notably covered head to feet with scars. Where the scars have healed over, her skin is a shade or two darker than her natural tint. The scaring on her face is lighter than elsewhere, and thanks to her natural regeneration and bulk, none of it is overly disfiguring. However, by most standards she is far from "pretty". Her face and features in general come across as a bit more masculine than feminine. Her hair, such as would be suggested by her namesake, is bright vibrant gold and is usually tangled or in some state of disarray as she spends little time worrying with it. It tends to be regularly and unevenly knife cut to be no longer than neck length, and kept up in a tie when not hidden beneath a helm.

General Personality: As the better portion of her adult life has been spent being part of a military contingent, she generally tends towards stoicism. Her mannerisms (excepting when she is very relaxed) reflect the ingrained pomp, polish, and discipline that comes with the day in and day out of the military lifestyle. However, when 'at ease', Shandâli is a rather jovial, warm hearted, and good natured individual. Commonly she will go out of her way to help others who are in need of it, and will endure the worst of situations to protect someone she feels is in need of her assistance. In daily life, and even in the heat of battle, she tends to uphold very paladonic view of right and wrong.

Character History/story:

(I apologize in advance for the length of this; it is a rather rough and abridged version of a much much longer story that covers years of RP and development.)

Shandâli was found as a very young child in Stranglethorn Vale and spent most of her young life there being raised by a human. She still does not recall the particulars, but the home in which she lived with her parents whom she only slightly remembers, was attacked by...something... and her parents were slain. She managed to run away but was too young to get very far and even less able to protect and feed herself. She had been alone for a few days when she was happened upon by a Human Paladin.

The Paladin (a previous long running RP character of mine) was self exiled as his personal morals would not allow him to serve an Order which would accept the kind of tragedy as what befell his brother in the Light, Tirion Fordring. Shortly after the trial which removed his 'brother' from the Order he followed suit and struck out into the world renouncing his place in the Silver Hand.

Happening upon the young Troll, (again due to his morals) he could not bring himself to harm the little thing or see it starving to death so he fed it and looked into where it had come from. A bit of searching and he came upon a small village not too far away which had been most destroyed, its huts and walls burned and people slain. He assumed the young Troll must have somehow survived and was now an orphan as it looked half starved, dirty beyond reason (he later found this was only by human standards >_>), and covered in scratches and bruises.

He made up his mind to take care of the little thing till he could find another place that might take the little Troll in. Though, as time went by he never really managed to find a place to give her up to, and though the little Troll proved to be a nuisance at times, he quickly became fond of her. The Paladin had no children of his own, an as his wife had previously been taken from him by the plague which had swept through Lordaron, the company of another to share his time with quickly became much appreciated. As she grew, the Paladin took to calling her 'daughter', gave her a name that sounded proper to him, and taught her what he could as she grew. They built a home of sorts in the jungle of Stranglethorn and she learned of heroes and fighting and the ways of a follower of the Light. She helped him work the forge he built, and they managed to get what they needed for their simple existence from the trade the Paladin made of his forge work. It was a happy and peaceful time for Shandâli and her 'father'.

Years past and she grew the Paladin realized that he would not be around forever to watch over here, and that she would need to be part of her people to be protected. Fortunately a chance in counter on a trip to Booty Bay brought a surprise in the form of an old acquaintance of the Paladin. A fellow warrior with whom the Paladin had trained as a younger man and shared many an adventure with happened to be in the city himself.

To make a rather long story short, the fellow had taken up sick not long after the Paladin had left on his self imposed exile, and was now an agent of the Undercity...

An odd occurrence to say the least, but eventually the Paladin came to accept the Forsaken's situation and got over his natural revulsion to the undead state of his past friend. As time went on, even such oddities became acceptable and both ended up reminiscing about old times and adventures and troubles they had gotten into. It saddened the Paladin to see his friend trapped as a corpse, but it also did provide him with an opportunity that he considered at great length.

Eventually, he told his old friend of the issue with his 'daughter' and her need to integrate with her own kind and possibly into the Horde as well. The Forsaken understood what was being asked and gladly accepted the request. He told the Paladin that he would let her be part of his new business venture as a Forsaken, teach her to defend herself and teach her what she would need to know so that she could become a member of the Horde. The Paladin was both relieved and worried; hopping that he was doing the right thing while understanding that it was necessary. It took time, but eventually he agreed to the arrangement.

Shandâli however upon reaching the Undercity found something quite different from what her father had told her she would be doing. There was no travel for her, or learning of the Horde, or anything at first beyond the small room she was given upon arrival. The Forsaken she had traveled to the city with let her know quite clearly that evening when he brought her food that she was now "his", and would be used as such.

In the days, and months, and years that followed, many rather unsavory things befell her within the Undercity. Above all else, she was trained to fight and to kill. Each day till she collapsed from exhaustion she would be forced to train, and was commonly beaten between times. Food was meager and her only free time was spent locked in her stone walled room. The mages and the apothecaries quickly took interest in her as a subject to which they might do as they liked without repercussion, as long as it made her better in combat. She was treated like an animal by those who kept her and as such the years past and conditioned her into nothing short of a fighting beast. A magically and chemically enhanced experiment to which the Forsaken who spent the same year feeding lies to her father about her development, planned to use to his own ends.

Unfortunately for him, she learned well though her suffering and spent those years hating him and thinking of little beyond some way to kill the Forsaken who had brought her to the Undercity and then escape with her own life intact. Three years after her arrival, she did just that. Using everything she had been taught about fighting, all that had been beaten into her and every chemical that had been pumped into her veins, she managed to tear her way through the guards who held her captive and slay the Forsaken who had held the focus of her hatred for the past few years. Taking what money she could from his home, she made her way out of the Undercity cloaked and amidst the other members of the Horde who were coming and going that evening.

As quickly as she could manage, she returned to Strangle Thorn and to the home she had shared with her father. A very lengthy tear filled reunion later; they both sat and spoke of what the future held for them. The Paladin was devastated to learn of what he had inadvertently done to his daughter. She had come back to him changed in ways that he could only half imagine, and full of a rage that he had never seen before. Over the next year he did his best to console and care for her and tried in vain to temper down the rage and anger that the past few years had built into her. Largely, his efforts proved only mildly successful. And, eventually, he realized that he would have to find some other to help her.

More time past and the trade slowly died out a bit in the Vale. However, now there was big news of stirrings in the icy lands to the north. It seemed that the Lich King was preparing something, and no one could believe that it was good. Most astonishing of all, the Order of the Silver Hand was again rising to meet the threat of the undead and at its head was none other than the Paladin's old friend Tirion Fordring.

The news of Fordrings reemergence set everything in place for the Paladin. Despite his age, it was time for him to wield the Light once again in the defense of Azeroth. Telling his daughter of his decision to go back was a difficult task for him, but he was surprised that she decided that she would go with him. He knew that she had become quite the combatant in her time away, and though the Light would not answer her call, maybe there would be something she could do.

Father and daughter made their way to the Northern lands and then to the headquarters of the new Argent Crusade. Tirion met them personally and shared a short bit of time to welcome and reminisce with an old friend and his curious 'daughter' before having one of the younger recruits get them situated. In no time they had both found a place to be in the new order and marveled at the state of the Argent Crusade where all of the races of the world worked together to defend their lives and their people from the onslaught of the Lich King.

Though Shandâli could not wield the Light, her abilities in battle got her though the ranks rather quickly. Eventually she found herself in command of a small contingent made up of mostly paladins whose company moniker was "Justice Incorporated". She always thought the name was a bit silly, but it seemed to fit more or less. The small group twenty five or so members were assigned to invasive and secretive raids into the Lich King's various strong holds and fortresses. Their targets were usually some cache of war supplies or trying to remove a key member of the Lich Kings leadership. The losses were often heavy, but the missions usually a success causing major complications for the undead forces which stood against the Argent Crusade.

In no time, Justice Inc. became one of the premiere tactical units for the Crusade. They saw prominent placement in combat 'hot spots' throughout the battle with the Lich King, and even used as part of an assistive force for the Krin Tor when they began exploring the ruins of Ulduar once it was understood to be a problematic and dangerous area. After awhile, the effects of constant combat began to wear on the group and the upper registers decided that the group would take a required leave to compensate for the battle exhaustion.

Since then, Shandâli has been looking for a place to call her own, drifting from here to there in an attempt to find a place to call home when the current battles are finally done for her.

Character Goals: Shandâli seeks two things at the moment, first and foremost a place that will be home for her when her days of fighting with the Argent Crusade are done, and secondly a place where she can learn a bit more about the ways of her kind. It has been noted that she speaks Common better than her 'native' tongue, and she is looking for a way to change that. She was able to observe some of the members of the War Tribe while helping out a friend awhile back and they seemed like a family as much as a War Band. Beyond that, combat is what she knows; being part of a combat orientated 'family' would give her some common ground to build from with a group to which she has few other ties than that of her race.

Character Dislikes/Phobias: Shandâli grew up with, and has in the last few years spent much time around Paladins and the ideals of their code has heavily influenced her. As such, she follows her own set of morals which have many parallels with the Code of the Paladin. She dislikes it when people are hurt without cause, when the strong bully the weak simply because they believe that they can, and when others do not stand up for their beliefs. Also, she has a very healthy dislike for most Blood Knights. She feels as if they are pretenders in the throne so to speak, and that they do not respect and appreciate what they have in their abilities to use the Light.
